Woodrow "Woody" House was born on August 10, 1942 in Grenada, Missisippi to the late Hattie Ross-Lathan and Cole House.
Woody received his formal education in Grenada, Mississippi. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the City of St. Louis until his retirement.
Woody was a man with many skills. After retirement, he enjoyed cutting grass, landscaping, fishing, hunting, hanging in the garden, and working part-time at A&A Security.
Woody was a very laid-back person. He was a "cool-dresser" who took pride in how he looked when he stepped out especially in his hat and cowboy boots and let's not forget about his exclusive rides.
Woody loved his wife Dee and his girls, Eunice, Tanya, DaShon and Kayana. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Tyrone "Baby T."
Woody professed his faith in Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of Galilee Central Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Matthew Turner, currently Pastor Dichali M. Coleman.
Woody departed this life on Friday, November 22, 2024 . He is preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Ross-Lathan and his father, Cole House; his wife, U. Dee; sons, Woodrow Jr., Jerome, Anthony, Frank, and his brother, Tommie Leverett.
Woody leaves to cherish his memories to his children, Atanya House, Eunice House (Concepcion) Brown, Jacqueline House, Henry Smith; from the union of U. Dee, Woody gained three additional children, Ronald, Kenneth, and Candace; grandchildren, Dashon Hill, Kayana Anderson and Tyrone Brown, a host of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Anne Brooks, Everlena Jones, and Mary Love; sisters-in-law, Lottie Nickerson and Rosetta Harris; special friends, Evelyn, Alyssia, and his friends from the Garden.
