Obituary

Mr. William Coleman was born on October 29, 1932 to the union of George and Georgia Mae Coleman in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by sisters, Georgia, Mary, Etta, Sadie; brothers Charles, Aubrey, and Harold along with a loving step-mother Lucy Jordan.

Sonny Boy , as he was fondly called by his loving sister, Marian, confessed a hope in Christ in 1964 and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W.B. Rouse.

Mr. Coleman received his formal education in the St. Louis School District graduating from Sumner High School in 1949. After graduation he joined the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Coleman was honored for his service and received recognition awards in 2009 by the VFW and army administration.

Mr. Coleman was employed with the Bell Telephone Company for several years and was self employed as a transportation entrepreneur. He was a man of few words but give him some art supplied and expect a beautiful work of art, he was indeed an excellent artist.

Mr. Coleman departed this life on January 26, 2022 . He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Marian Williams of East St. Louis, IL; two nieces Anita (Jeffery) Standard of New Baden, IL and Crystal Rhodes of Belleville, IL; two nephews Dwayne Rhodes of Belleville, IL, Michael Rhodes of Las Vegas, NV and many great nieces and nephews.
