Walter Lee
Lewis Iii
May 15, 1989 — Feb 20, 2022
Walter Lee (Stimmy Turner) Lewis III was born on May 15, 1989 in Centreville, IL to the union of Diane Hawkins and Tyrone Lewis. Preceding him in death his maternal grandparents Elouise and Otis Moore, his paternal grandparents, Tyrone Lewis Sr. and Lily Noeland, and god brother William Bell Sr.
Walter confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Greater Faith Christian Church. Walter was baptized by the late Rev. Frederick E. Wilson Sr. Soon after his confession, baptism, and membership, he became an active member of the Children's Choir.
Walter entered school at the age of three years old at Wesley Bathel United Methodist Church-Elementary School until the age of five years old where he started at Park Elementary until he graduated. He then moved on to Clark Jr. High then graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School. Walter was later transferred to Brown Alternative High in Alorton, IL where he graduated in 2008, which he was very proud and made his mother very proud.
Walter joined a youth service program called "Build America" where he graduated through the Lessie Bates-Davis Neighborhood under the leadership of Mr. Bruce Stennis.
Walter started this first Job at Target Warehouse in Pontoon Beach, IL and later moved his employment to Walmart in Cahokia, IL where he earned other credits to graduate for working. Walter was also employed at American Steel in Granite City, IL for about four years and later worked at World Wide Technology in Edwardsville, IL until his passing.
Walter loved his children and his family. He was a very devoted father to his children and his knows that I loved him for that which I always told him over and over. I am proud of you. Walter loved working and always said "Moma I about making that bread so I can take care of my children. You know I have ten in all." I said to him "You have six kids" and his response to me was, "You forgot I have four other that I am trying to help raise," and I said to him "Forgive me son. Charge it to my head not my heart. You're right I am so sorry." Water would have ten children in his home at one time and I said to him "You are a good one son. Ten at a time I would be so confused," and he said again "I love them all. There is not one that I don't love" Walter was trying very hard to teach the boys how to become a teenager to a man because as he said to them, "The world has changed now." He would punish them by making them do housework and taking away their electronics until he thought they had learned a lesson, then give them back. Walter played a good role in those children's lives by taking them skating and picking them up, taking them to the barber shop, shopping, and taking them to different shows in St. Louis, MO. (Monster Truck Racing and etc.)
Walter loved hanging out and partying with his cousins who he grew up with and his friends. He loved playing the XBOX games online with his friends, playing cards and just joking with his friends. He was one of the jokers in the family.
One thing I can say is he knew God because he talked about him to me. You never caught Walter without his Bible. He always kept one either in his work bag or his vehicle on Psalm 23. Walter changed his life around for the positive side of living life better and I will never forget that because I always told him "Prayer changes things and knowing God done that for you and for myself son, made me love you more dearly.
