Mr. WL "Doug" Ralliegh was born February 8, 1958 to Aaron and Ethel May Ralleigh in Houston, MS. His father brought his children to East St. Louis, IL after his mother passed while giving birth to his youngest sibling. Doug's love of family came from his father. He watched his father do what he could to keep his children together despite the odds. In his new home in Illinois, Doug attended Lincoln Senior High and graduated in 1977.
Doug started doing construction and carpentry work in his early 20's which eventually led him to create structures for his own business. Because he was very passionate about family and creating opportunities for others, Doug hired many of his siblings and good friends to be a part of the business. He married the love of his life, Rosalind Ralleigh, on December 26, 1987.
Doug enjoyed learning from other great men about life lessons, family, and how to be a better man. Those men had a great affect on him and served as mentors. This inspired him to be a better man and mentor other men. Out-side of making a living, his construction company served as his way of teach-ing young men practical skills, being a mentor, and showing love. Doug's handy work can be found all throughout St. Louis and The metro east area. There wasn't a project too small, or too big, that he would not tackle for his family, friends, and his community. He also assisted the communities of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and communities throughout Florida after the devastating affects from various hurricanes.
Doug started attending New Life Community Church in 2005 and was a faithful member serving in many ministries including baptismal, security, building, and men's ministry. Doug was a lot like the tools that are carried on a tool belt. He was equipped with the an array of tools for many situations. In October 2016, Doug was diagnosed with a unique form of cancer. As the cancer became aggressive, he fought it. He fought all the way to the end. Doug was a devoted husband, father, brother, son, uncle, grandpa, and friend. His legacy of strengthening families and helping others become the best ver-sion of themselves lives on through the lives he touched.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 29 years, Rosalind Ralleigh; daughters, Gerlinda Ralleigh and Ariel Ralleigh; son, Brandon Tolson; granddaughter, Jaiya Ralleigh; siblings, Dorothy McIntosh (Sylvester), James Ralleigh, Odessa McCall, Earl Ralleigh, Roger Ralleigh (Ann), Elgin Ralleigh, David Ralleigh, and Edward Ralleigh; Parents in Love Ocie and Anna Tolson; Sisters in Love, Candance Chinn (Michael), Sherry Tolson, and Raykel Tolson; neices and nephews, Elgin Cotton (Franisha), Kristal Cotton, Shilisha Cotton, David Ralleigh, Jr. (Arionna), Edward Ralleigh Jr., Nichole McCall-Waller (Lamone), Don McCall ( Jonay), Sylvester McIntosh Jr. (Pauline), Charlie McIntosh (Kenisha), Tara McIntosh-Horne (Derek), David Chinn, Christopher Chinn, Kristen Chinn, Mark Tolson Smith, Aaron Tolson-Smith, Larenz Tolson, Caleb Smith, Joshua Tolson, Earl Ralleigh Jr., James Ralleigh (Kim), Sumester Johnson, Sherrell Johnson
