Mr. Virgil Murdock was born on February 21, 1931 in Shuqualak, Mississippi to the union of John Murdock and Canary (Daniels) Murdock. John and Canary were blessed with six children, Ethel, Mamie, Julia, Gladys and Percy all who preceded Virgil in death. Virgil was the 4 th of his siblings.
At an early age, Virgil confessed a hope in Christ. He was raised in Shuqualak, receiving his elementary and high school education. After his educational journey had ended, Virgil started a new journey in the United States Air Force, serving four years.
On April 25, 1963, Virgil was united in Holy Matrimony with his soul mate for life in the person of Verna M. Johnson. They spent 55 years together. They were blessed with two children, Patrice and Steven. Steven, also preceded him in death, alone with his stepson, Delarre. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Virgil was employed with McDonnell-Douglas and East St. Louis School District #189. After retiring from the school district, he became self-employed.
Virgil Murdock departed this life on April 20, 2018 in Cahokia, Illinois. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Verna Murdock; three daughters, Stephanie Lewis of St. Louis, MO, Daria Gore of Kennesaw, GA and Patrice (Darren) Jones of Belleville, IL; one stepdaughter, Donna Johnson of Granite City, IL; three sons. Derek Murdock of St. Louis, Mo and twin boys, Victor and Vernon Murdock; 16 grandchldren, two of whom he helped raise, Daryus and Dev'Ric; four great grandchildren, Anthony, De'Nyia, Kailee and Kaylee; numerous other relatives and friends.
