Valerie Michelle
Hopkins
Aug 10, 1976 — Oct 24, 2024
Ms. Valerie Michelle Hopkins , lovingly known as "Chelle" , departed this Earth on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the age of 48 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born on August 10, 1976 in St. Louis, MO to Earlest Holley and Carol Jennings. She was the youngest daughter of three girls.
Chelle received her primary and secondary education in the Public School District #189, where she was known for her rambunctious attitude and fun-loving spirit. Chelle touched the lives of so many with her infectious laughter, kind heart, and unwavering strength. She was known for her compassion for others and dedication to her five sons. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Chelle's spirit of fun, love, and determination will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched during her time on Earth.
Although Chelle did not actively attend a church at the time of her passing, she was a member of Kelly Lake Cathedral COGIC, under the leadership of Bishop Norman Harper and First Lady Arabella Harper. Chelle was a person of strong faith and knew our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She wholeheartedly believed in the power of prayer.
Knowing this, we take comfort in knowing she will be welcomed with opened Heavenly arms by her family who preceded her in death, her grandmother, Mamie Moncrief; great-aunt, Louise Slack; aunt, Cheryl (Cookie) Campbell; uncles, Bill Williams and Henderson (Pee Wee) Hopkins.
Michelle leaves to cherish her loving memories, her devoted mother, Carol Jennings; adoring 5 sons, Gerald (Vernetta) Hopkins, Kendall Hopkins, Arion (Loreal) Gilkey, Omari Mims, and Ahmad Mins; two loving sisters, Monica Hopkins and Candrice Hopkins; three grandchildren, Arieal Gilkey, King Robinson, and Calia Robinson; uncles and aunts, Valarie Adams, Larry (Hiawatha) Hopkins, Robert (Earlene) Hopkins, Gerald (Kim) Hopkins; nieces, Jasmine Hopkins, Meghin Hopkins, and Taylor Grinston; great nieces and nephew, Truu Samuels, Sevyen Hopkins and Lehlani Holliday; her favorite cousins, Tameka, Zane, Jaime, Dawn, Tonya, Pasha, Mickel, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chelle's memory will also be honored by her lifelong sister and brotherhood, Karryn, Janet, Kesu, San, Pookie, Mya, Wookie, Nicole, Sherrie, Khalil, and Dwight; including her neighborhood nieces and nephews that blood could not make them any closer, and her awesome Atlanta Family.
