Obituary

Mr. Tony Lamar Hannah was born to James Hannah and Katherine Ford-Hannah on October 23, 1957.  Tony received his high school education through the Job Corps Program of Edinburg, IN and from there continued his education at the State Community College of East St. Louis, IL.

Tony proudly served his country as a B.M./E-2 in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk- CU-63 from August 1976 to March 1977. He received his Emergency Medical Technician certification in 1981.  Tony was certified not only in Illinois and Missouri but held a national certification as well.  Tony continued his education at Forest Park Community College of St. Louis, MO where he was formally trained as an Emergency Medical II and once again received Illinois, Missouri and national certification in 1982.

From there he worked within his community providing emergency and health related care to the St. Louis Area Boys Scouts and the Ola Mae Minister Boarding House for the elderly.

Through hard work and perseverance, Tony realized his potential and fulfilled his dream of being an entrepreneur. For the next 35 years, Tony owed several businesses including the well-known Jaywash Company where he performed HVAC maintenance and household appliance repair.

Tony was the patriarch of an extensive family unit.  He was a workaholic and there was nothing he could not fix or repair.  He was diligent in his work performance and successful in anything that he put his mind to. Tony was highly respected by family, friends, colleagues, and the community.

Tony found the love of his life and soulmate Marsha, who helped him complete his life journeys. To cherish his memories he leaves one daughter Anita (Bufus) Freeman (TX) and Tony Hannah Jr. (MO), four brothers Leonard (Christine) Hannah (NC), Marlon (Tina) Hannah (Il), Thomas Curry (MO), Richard Hannah (AZ), four sisters Geraldine Pruitt (MO), Shirley (Riff) Hannah (Il), Lorraine (Lamont) Hannah (Il), Phyllis Curry (MO), one special uncle, Larry (Vanetta) Ford (OH), along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
