Therese Marie Gilmer (Gear) was born on June 21, 1954 in St. Louis, MO. She was raised by Irene and Luther Gilmer in Centreville, IL.

Therese graduated from Cahokia High School in 1971. She had various job opportunities, but she chose to work as an office manager at Cass Dental Clinic from 1975 to 2010. Therese was a dedicated employee for 35 years until she was stricken with pancreatic cancer.

Therese was introduced to her "Lord and Savior" Jesus Christ at Washington AME Zion Church in 1990. She went to church faithfully every Sunday.

Therese had a full life, being able to see her one and only son graduate from high school and later go off to Culinary School to become a fine chef. She was so proud to be able to stand up for him at his wedding. Later to be a proud grandmother of two grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

Therese departed this life on March 21, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Christopher Gear (Telesha); two granchildren, Elegance and Christopher Jr., two sisters, Charese Payne (William), of Florissant, MO., Evelyn Gilmer, Robert Lee Davis Hicks (Robert) of Taylorsville, Mississippi, a wonderful sister-in-law, Priscilla Gear (Stanley); six nieces Stacie C. Dixon (Jarome), Danielle Gilmer Hill (Nick), Jamille Fleming (Terrell), Felecia Gilmer, Andrea Mechelle, Rakail LaFaye; four nephews, Donald Gilmer Jr., Luther Mandrell Gilmer (Shalonda), Ramone Gilmer, Robert Lee Davis Jr.; one aunt Ethel Herman of Santa Ana, California, as well as a host of cousins and friends.
