Obituary

Sylvia Louise (Rodgers) Lomax was born on November 30, 1934 in Decatur, Illiniois to the late Edward Eugene and Mattie Dorothy (Belue) Rodgers.  Sylvia attended the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, Illinois. As well as her academics, Sylvia was good in archery and bowling.

Sylvia met the late Rufus Lomax and later united in Holy Matrimony on April 21, 1971.  To this union, two sons were born; David E. Rodgers and Rufus T. Lomax.

Sylvia was employed with The Lighthouse for the Blind and retired from the United States Postal Service in 1996.

Sylvia leaves to rejoice and cherish her memories; two sons, David E. Rodgers of Gary, Indiana and Rufus (Tiffany) Lomax of Fairview Heights, Illinois;  granddaughter, Talia Lomax;  five sisters, Shirley Slaw of Atlanta, GA, Virginia Rodgers of Decatur, IL, Barbra Rhymes of Atlanta, GA, Judy Evans of Grand Rapids, MI and Sherry Rodgers of Decatur, IL;  two brothers, Billy (Margaret) Rodgers of Grand Rapids, MI and Larry (Lillie) Rodgers of Decatur, IL and a host of friends.
