Shirley Mae
Grady
Sep 21, 1947 — Jul 11, 2025
Shirley Grady was born at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, MO to the late Lue Ella Egerson on September 21, 1947. She departed this earthly life on July 11, 2025, and was attending a two-week physical therapy session.
Shirley united in wedlock to Rev. Lawrence Grady at the early age of 17 years old. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ. She was baptized by Rev. Harris at a Macedonia Baptist Church located in Centreville, Illinois.
Shirley was attending a Catholic Church and eventually started cooking for all of the catholic church events. Shirley was a jack of all trades. She worked as a dietitian and a professional seamstress. She worked in the ammunition plant making B52 Military Bombs, in Joliet, Illinois. She loved to cook and had her own special culinary recipes. She was a handywoman - good with a hammer and could do electricity. She enjoyed the planet earth. She liked to grow fresh veggies and flowers and could not resist a good fishing trip at the lake.
She is preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Grady, her granddaughter, Angela Grady, two siblings, Robert Lewis and Elaine Washington.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memories her daughters Tabitha Grady and Zipporah Grady; four grandchildren, Samola Taylor, Devin Taylor, Elijah Grady and Tilana Childress. She also leaves behind seven siblings, Annie Crawford, Earlene Bibs, Emma Darough, Vivian Lane, Tyzer Egerson, Ella Egerson, Rickey Egerson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
