Mrs. Shirley Goree was born on May 12, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Mrs. Ellen Clanton-Shanklin and Mr. Willie Shanklin who preceded her in death.

She is also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother; her sons, Rodney Goree and Kemon Goree; her daughter, Terry Goree and her husband, Leroy Goree.

Shirley confessed a hope in Christ at a young age with the Mt. Zion Church in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was a loving, adventurous and outgoing woman. She loved to dance.

Shirley lived her life on the go with no intentions of being stopped. Some would describe her as spontaneous, outspoken and feisty. Shirley will be missed dearly by all who loved her.

Shirley departed this life on May 24, 2024 in Belleville, Illinois. She leaves behind to cherish her memory five children, Leroy Goree, Jr., Lisa Goree, Donreco Goree, Sandy Goree, and Renee Goree; 25 grandchildren, a host of great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
