Sheryl
Anderson
Mar 6, 1957 — Aug 6, 2019
Baltimore
Sheryl Anderson (nee Hill), of East St Louis, IL died at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, surrounded by her family on August 06, 2019. She was 62 years old.
Sheryl was born on March 06, 1957 in St. Louis, MO to Lue Bertha Hill and Homer Harbour; and also shared a special love and bond with her bonus father, Henry Lee Lofton.
Sheryl graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1975 and was a member of the drama club and the track and field team. After graduation, she attended Eastern Illinois University.
Sheryl began her career in retail as a customer service associate and worked for Ventures Department store, followed by the Macy's Credit Service Center. After 30 years in retail customer service, she decided to follow her lifelong dream of being an airline employee. In March 2014, Sheryl was hired by Airport Terminal Services (ATS). At the time of her death, she was employed with ATS as a Customer Service Supervisor for Spirit Airlines at the Dallas Fort Worth Station.
Sheryl met and fell in love with Carl Edward Anderson in 1979. They were married on April 09, 1983, and under this union raised three children.
For many years, Sheryl sang soprano for the St. Louis Gospel Choral Union and traveled the country each year to participate in the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, founded by Thomas A. Dorsey.
In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and spinning the ones and twos. She was affectionately known by her family as DJ Sheryl The Pearl, and claimed the title of the family shop-a-holic. Holidays were her specialty, and she knew how to turn any occasion into a party. She especially loved Christmas and made sure to share the joy with everyone.
More than anything, Sheryl enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She would drop everything to play, dance, sing, cook, watch movies, or craft with them. Each of them held a very special place in her heart and meant the absolute world to her.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her husband: Carl Anderson; fathers: Homer Harbour, Henry Lee Lofton; and one grandchild.
Sheryl is survived by her children: Mario (Candice) Hill of Arlington, TX and Carla (Jermaine) Nelson of Odenton, MD; step-son: Carl (Narissa) McClin ; four grandchildren: Mariah Hill of Ft. Worth, TX, Aniyah Nelson of Odenton, MD, Brayden Hill of Ft. Through The Eyes Of A Child
Our Mother: A woman of dignity and grace.
A woman who always had a kind and encouraging word for others.
A woman who loved those around her with unconditional and everlasting love.
A woman who thought about others, more than she thought about herself.
A woman with an infectious laugh that made others laugh with her.
A woman who loved and feared the Lord.
A woman with a Testimony.
A woman who will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
