Mr. Sammie Lee Mannie was born November 23, 1956 in Jackson, Mississippi to the union of the late George and Verillian Mannie. His wife, Joan Stringer, Andrew Mannie (Pot Tea) brother, LaTaunia Stringer daughter, all preceded him in death.
Sammie confessed his life to Christ at the age of 35 under the leadership of his sister, Elder Loretta Paits. Sammie attended school in Jackson, Mississippi where he graduated from Provine High.
Sammie resided in Chicago, Illinois before relocating to the metroeast area in 1974. He found employment with Granite City Steel. He liked riding his bike and going fishing. He was very loved by his friends and family. He was known as "Leather Scrap" and there will never be another!
Sammie departed this life on January 8, 2018 in East St. Louis, Illinois. Mr. Mannie leaves to cherish his memories, his siblings, Tommie Loudeggett of Belleville, IL, Henry Lee (Hurestine) Mannie of Canton, MI, George, Jr. (Christine) Mannie, Elder Loretta (Late Rev. Clyde) Paits, Linda (Lionel) Shelton and Dorothy Mannie all of Jackson, MI and the late Andrew (Gail) Mannie of Atlanta, GA.; children, Charlletta Brooks, Jimmie Stringer and Danielle StringerDunnigan all from East St. Louis, Il; 16 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
