Obituary

Ruby Jean Rogers was born on April 22, 1932 in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was the proud daughter of James and Emma Sanders.

Ruby completed her education in Tupelo, Mississippi. In 1950, she was united in holy matrimony to Cedell Rogers. To this union, two children were born, Charles E. Rogers and Lois Jean Brown.

After, Ruby and Cedell moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1959. Ruby was a homemaker. Ruby loved caring, teaching, singing, and cooking for her family. Ruby enjoyed her lunch dates, shopping and her yearly road trips with her daughter. Ruby enjoyed her quality time with her grandchildren, while playing a pivotal role in their upbringing. She taught them how to cook, help others, and love each other. As the family grew, Ruby was blessed to impart the same qualities into her great grandchildren, singing, playing and talking about the bible.

Ruby always believed God and family came first. Ruby accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a faithful "Mother" of the Rock Hill M. B. Church. For those who knew her, Ruby was a woman of few words. When she would speak, however everyone listened. Known for her faith in God, strong prayer warrior and her great inner strength, she made it a point to instill these qualities into all her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. Ruby would always tell them that they could "reach for the star" and that "all things were possible with God."

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and James Sanders; her husband, Cedell Rogers, her sister, Dorothy, and her son, Charles E. Rogers.

Ruby leaves to cherish her loving daughter, Lois (Maurice, Sr.) Brown; her five grandchildren, Michelle Jones, Maurice (Shameka) Brown II, Marcus (Bonnie) Brown, Sr., Charlene Rogers, and Jospehine Rogers; her sisters, Forestine Ware, Queenola Miller, Jamesella (Joe) Easter; her brother, Wiley Sanders; seven great grandchildren, Micaiah, Cheyenne, Maurice III, Marcus Jr., Aaliyah, Micah and David; one special daughter, Betty (Michael) Roberts, one special niece, Adrienne (Edgar Nelson); a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
