Rosie Lee
Johnson
Aug 21, 1926 — Dec 24, 2019
East St. Louis
Rosie Lee Johnson was born on August 21, 1926 in West Point, Mississippi to the union of Glen and Virginia Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband Lovell Johnson and son, Calvin Bernard Johnson. Rosie confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Centreville, Illinois under Reverend J.W. Wilson.
Rosie enjoyed baking and other crafts. Rosie always had a smile on her face and her smile would light up the room. Rosie performed many duties throughout the years at Shiloh. She sang in the adult choir and served over 20 years as the president of the Mother's Board. In 1997, Rosie organized the Shiloh Youth for Christ.
Rosie departed this life on December 24, 2019 at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Mrs. Rosie Lee Johnson leaves to cherish her memory three sons and two daughters; Tyree Jerome Johnson (Glennie), Leonard Ray Johnson (Joyce), Lovell Johnson Jr., Mary Louise Hicks (Leroy), Lovie Lee Warren and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and God daughter, Petra Humphrey.
Today we are comforted by the words of our Lord in Revelation 21:4, "And God shall wipe away all your tears from your eyes and there shall be no more death neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: For the former things are passed away."
