Obituary

Rosalind Aldridge was the second child born to the union of Charlie and Zola Aldridge on June 21, 1957 at Christian Welfare Hospital in East St Louis, Illinois.

Rosalind was baptized at early age by Reverend James Wings at St.  Mark Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis. She was later received into full communion with St.  Joseph Catholic Church and upon merger of East St. Louis Catholic parishes, became a member of St. Augustine Of Hippo Catholic Church.

Rosalind received her formative education through East St. Louis public school system, the former St. Joseph Catholic School, the former St. Teresa Academy and graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1975.  She furthered her education at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

Rosalind's gift as an artist was recognized at a very young age. She made the decision to enter an art contest and received first place! She used her artistic gift as member of St. Joseph's and St. Augustine's liturgy committee. She enjoyed preparing the church environment for Advent and Christmas. She also served as a lector and minister of hospitality.

She was an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction. As her mom would say, "Rosalind has been a reader and smart all of her life!"

Rosalind began her professional career with Barry-Wehmiller Company. Her father, being very proud of this accomplishment, assured her prompt and safe arrival each work day.   She concluded her career in Labor Relations with the Internal Revenue Service after providing over 34 years of service.

Rosalind was united in holy matrimony to Winston Langford on October 2, 1982. To this union one son was born, Winston Langford, II. Rosalind was a devoted and faithful wife. Winston was a caring, devoted and faithful husband. He truly loved Rosalind in good health and sickness. He was by her side until the very end.

Rosalind will be remembered for her love of home, decorating, gardening, entertaining, and assisting others, especially family and friends.

She was the most loving and dedicated grandmother to her only grandchild, Morgan Marie Langford.  She had much love to spread, as it was evident when she opened her heart and home to  care for her great-niece, Lizzie, whom she truly adored.

She was preceded in death by brother-in-law, James Greer, mother-in-law, Mildred Langford Hill, father, Charlie Aldridge and brother, Keith Aldridge.

Rosalind's transition to eternal life on Monday, February 25, 2019 reminds us that life has not ended, but has changed. What a change, as her physical presence will be greatly missed and cherished by:  devoted husband, Winston Langford, Sr.; loving son, Winston Langford, II; mother, Zola M. Aldridge; granddaughter, Morgan Marie; sisters, Denise (Lonnie) Blake, and Madonna Aldridge;  dedicated niece, Denise Greer; great-niece, Elizabeth; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
