Obituary

A Time to be Born

ROBERT CHARLES PHILLIPS was born on September 7, 1939, in Grenada Mississippi to the union of K.C. and Donnie Phillips. Robert, affectionately known as R.C. or Uncle Buddy. R.C. was preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Charles and John Frank Phillips and nephew Lenoff Land Jr.

A Time To Plant

Robert was reared and grew up on "Goose Hill". This is where his life began to be planted. Instead of R.C. calling your name he would call you 'Sport" or "Clyde".
Robert confessed a belief in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Southern Mission Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Elbert Thames.

A Time To Learn

Robert was a 1958 graduate of East St Louis Sr. High, after high school he was drafted into the United States Army. When he returned home he continued his education at Mildred Louise Business School where he received an Associate degree and then furthered his education at SIU-E. Robert was employed at Foggy Meat Company and Monsanto. In R. C spare time he dedicated his time with The Junior Achievement Program. This was one of his passions to help kids to achieve their goals. Robert retired from Hunters meat packing company as a Logistic Coordinator in 1994. After retirement he worked part-time at Cahokia Downs.

A Time To Love and Enjoy

Robert met his mate Marilyn Rosson, and they were married February 6, 2003.
Robert had a zest for life and loved his family and traveling. He was a member of the Impala Sportsman's club.
Before R.C health began to decline, "Uncle Buddy "continued to travel every chance he could. He enjoyed riding and listening to good music and "he did just that."

A Time To Rest

Robert went home to rest at 2:20 P.M on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Four Fountains Nursing Home in Belleville Illinois.
