Obituary

Mr. Robert Lamont Gilmore, affectionately known along the as Monty or GMoe, was born on October 26, 1976 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Ms. Hattie Mae Gilmore and Mr. Willis Cherry, Sr.
At the age of fourteen, Monty moved from East St. Louis to Moss Point, Mississippi to live with his Costal Parents, Verna and the late Quincy Walker. It was through divine intervention that these two guided and reared him into adulthood. He came to love the Coast as his home. His charismatic personality made an impression on everyone he encountered. He was loved by many along the Gulf Coast including his Coastal Sisters, Veronica Walker-Winters and
Dr. Tamara Walker Harper, as well as his Cadre of Friends Michael
Richardson, Taurus Richardson, Robert Fountain, Cedric Moody and George Leggins.
Monty graduated from MossPoint High School in 1995, graduated with an Associates Degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston Campus in 1997 and attended the University of
Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
In March of 2012, Monty returned to East St. Louis and later married Christina Crosby. Upon returning, Monty worked at U.S. Steele in Granite City, Illinois and was working at Koch
Industries in St. Louis, Missouri at the time of his death.
Monty was preceded in death by his daughter LaKesha
Gilmore and his Costal Father Quincy Walker. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Christina Crosby Gilmore, his mother Hattie Mae Gilmore, his father Willis Cherry, Jr., his Costal mother Verna Walker; and his children Christiana Crosby, Thmani Gilmore, Paris Jones, Arreyon Lett, Chrishawn Crosby, and Dante' Nelson, Jr. He also leaves to his sisters and brothers Regina Gilmore
(Marco), Eugene Gilmore, Ayonna Gilmore (DeWayne) and Manuel Wallace, Pamela Rodgers, and Willis Cherry, Jr.; his Costal sisters Veronica Walker-Winters and Dr. Tamara Walker-Harper; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
