Robert Eugene Carter was born in East St. Louis, IL on June 15, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Carter Sr. and Ida Y. Carter and brother, Gregory Don Carter.
Robert confessed his life in Christ at an early age. He was baptized at St. Luke AME Church in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Robert was a graduate of East St. Louis Senior High School. After graduation, he attended Southern Illinois university, East St. Louis Campus.
Robert was united in Holy Matrimony to Bonnie Tucker and to this union two children were born, Kimberly and Ryan. On July 24, 2004, Robert was joined in Holy Matrimony to Deborah Lynne Wright and they were blissfully married for eighteen years.
Robert was employed at Macy's as a Salesperson, where he retired from. His outgoing personality made it easy for customers to make a purchase. Robert was employed for several entities during his earlier years such as Laclede Gas, St. Clair County and Local 100 International Labor's Union.
Robert was a well-rounded person. He never met a stranger.. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His proudest moments were when he attended the college graduation of his grandchildren, Walter and Kristina. Robert enjoyed dancing, walks in the park and traveling. Robert's travels with his wife, Deborah took him to California, Michigan, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Georgia, Mississippi, Nevada, Jamaica, and The Bahamas; he enjoyed traveling. His dream destination was to travel to Monte Carlo to live "Big Time."
The Lord called His "Angel" Robert home on Friday, June 16, 2023. The day after his eightieth birthday celebration. Despite his illness, he gave his trademark smile.
Robert Eugene Carter, Jr. is survived by; his loving wife ~ Deborah; his daughter ~ Kimberly (deceased: Walter Jr.) Hood; son ~ Ryan Carter; sister ~ Harriett "Judy" (Joseph) Mullins; grandchildren ~ Walter Hood and Kristina Hood, sisters-in-law ~ Denise Donnan and Daphne (Rozmond) Dorsey; brother-in-law ~ Wesley (Kimberly) Wright; childhood friend ~ Linda Brown-Jackson; special cousins ~ Dexter (Yvonne) Hopkins and Pamela Jones-King; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
