Obituary

Rickey Earl Williams was born on August 9, 1970 in East St. Louis, IL to the union of Richard Jones and Juanita Williams (Phiffer), both of whom preceded him in death. Rickey accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He attended North End Baptist Church until he relocated to the state of Missouri.

Rickey attended East St. Louis Sr. High School. He worked at several local businesses in various positions. His last employer was New York Cleaners located in East St. Louis, IL. On June 16, 1992, Rickey married his high school sweetheart, Cindy Brock. Two children were born to this union. He enjoyed spending time with his sons.

Rickey loved warm weather because it gave him an opportunity to fire up the grill and have a backyard barbecue. He branded himself the "Grill Master." He enjoyed hosting spade parties for his friends and family. Rickey loved sports, especially football. His favorite team was the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed fishing, playing basketball, and being outdoors with his family.

As the youngest of six children, Rickey was spoiled and the apple of everyone's eye. His maternal grandfather, Eli Phiffer, lovingly referred to him as "Jitterbug." He enjoyed spending time with his grandfather and one of his most cherished memories was attending a baseball game between the Cardinals and Dodgers. During the game, one of the Dodgers' players reached out and shook Rickey's grandfather's hand and Rickey was honored that the player took the time to shake his elderly grandfather's hand. Rickey enjoyed chauffeuring his grandfather around because it afford him the opportunity to have more driving time than most of his friends.

Rickey was separated from his family for many years, but he kept in contact with them via telephone and letters. He made contacting his family a priority. His family could always count on phone calls from Rickey to brighten their day. His strongest characteristic was his ability to adapt and find comfort in any situation.

Rickey was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Williams; parents, Richard Jones and Juanita Williams (Phiffer); paternal grandparents, William Cole and Ida Bell Jones; maternal grandparents, Eli Phiffer and Ellen Phiffer (Adams); nephews, Willie Richardson and Brandon Smith, and great nephew Jordan Eddins.

On July 27, 2021 at 9:40 a.m., Rickey transitioned from this life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
