Obituary

Quencella Stovall was born September 21, 1936 in Marianna, Arkansas to the union of Marshall Williams and Pearley Lee (Hightower) Williams.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Arthur Lee Stovall) and eleven siblings:  Seven Brothers:  Samuel, Charley, Oscar, Phelix, John, Eddie and Marshall Jr., and Four Sisters: Odessa, Amy, Eare Jean and Derotha

Quencella, her parents and siblings relocated to East St. Louis, IL in the early 1950's. She attended Hughes Quinn Jr. High and Lincoln Senior High School.

Quencella was united in marriage to Isaac Lee Ferguson, Sr. in 1956 and later married Arthur Lee Stovall in 1967.

Quencella was a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in a nursing home in Swansea, IL for a few years. She was later employed and retired as a CNA at St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis, IL. She enjoyed caring for the sick.

Quencella confessed Christ as her savior at an early age. She joined Southern Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Brooklyn, Illinois under the leadership of Rev. J.B. Henderson, Sr. and was a faithful member and usher for many years.  In later years, she moved her membership to Gateway Area Bible Fellowship Apostolic Church in East St. Louis, Illinois under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Levi King.

Quencella was one of the best dressed ladies in church.  She loved her hats coordinating with her outfits.  She was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord and carried that love with her family and friends. She was a strict disciplinarian, but had a self-less demeanor in raising her children and others.  On numerous occasions, if a family member or friend would say or do anything out of context with the word of God, she would stand firm and boldly correct them.  She loved to sit on her front porch as the self-appointed Neighborhood Watch person.

Quencella departed this life on September 6, 2018 and leaves to cherish her memory: One daughter, Sheryl D. Tanner of East St. Louis, IL; four sons:  Isaac L. Ferguson, Jr. of Washington Park, IL, Paul L. Ferguson of East St. Louis, IL,  Juandecarlo Ferguson of Columbus, GA and Sherman R. (Sandy) Ferguson of Belleville, IL. One sister, Joyce D. McKinley of East St. Louis, IL and God-daughter, LaTori Jones of Granite City, IL.

Also to cherish her memory are seven grandchildren, eighteen great- grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
