Queen
Hoyle
Feb 13, 1947 — Mar 18, 2022
Queen E. Hoyle was the third of eleven children born to the union of Fannie Lee Holmes and Sampson Winford on February 13, 1947, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Queen was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and three sisters.
Queen attended schools in East St. Louis and was a 1966 graduate of Lincoln Senior High School. Queen also graduated from Mildred Louis Business College and became one of the best professional secretaries in the East Saint Louis area. She worked for Health Education and Welfare in her early career under the direction of Will McGaughy and then moved on to SIUE Head Start as the Administrative Secretary for over twenty years. Queen retired from Belleville Housing Authority.
Queen was a strong woman when it came to life's challenges. She was very strict with her girls. She was also an awesome cook. She could cook just about anything. She taught both of the girls to be independent and not rely on anyone but God. She taught them self-love and to care for themselves. She gave her life to Christ in her early years and later joined Greater Faith Christian Fellowship until her health started failing. Queen enjoyed watching Dr. Phil, Lifetime Movie Network, and CNN News while playing Bejeweled Blitz and was very good at it. She didn't mind telling you what was on her mind and will not hold her tongue. What you see is what you get.
On March 18, 2022, Queen was called home and passed from a long illness.
Queen leaves to cherish in her memory; two daughters ~ Devonna (Leon) Dogan and Alesia Hoyle-Jenkins; four brother ~ Willie (Mary) Holmes, Tommie Lee (Lillie) Holmes, James (Roslyn) Holmes and Ricky Holmes; two sisters ~ Rosetta McWherter and Fannie Jones; two grandchildren ~ Brandon L. Jenkins and J'hanette K. Dogan as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
