Quartez Lamont Smith, known to most as "Smitty" was born on December 14, 1968 in East St. Louis, Illinois at Christian Welfare Hospital to Charlie and Willa Dean Smith. They both preceded him in death.

Quartez was raised in East St. Louis, IL and was educated in school in East St. Louis, IL. North Little Rock, Arkansas has been home to Quartez for the past 17 years. Quartez accepted Christ at an early age and had his own spiritual connection with God that he spoke on regularly.

Quartez passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 3, 2023.

Quartez will forever be known as the life of the party and there is not a place tat he had been that he didn't leave some stories that will be retold repeatedly. Quartez was strong willed and stubborn at times, very private but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained though all his life experiences. He loved to show off his cooking skills and was always being told to be quiet because he was hurting your ears wit his singing talent  (he really could sing when he wanted to) and the loudest of the crew. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him. He will be missed dearly.

Quartez is survived by his brothers, Bennie (Jacqueline) Smith of Arlington, Texas, Gerald Smith of East St. Louis, IL; sister, Angela D. Smith of O'Fallon, IL; three nieces, Taryn Brittany, Gerica and Lexus; four nephews, Charles, Christopher, Devin, and Macaire; 5 great nieces, 6 great nephews, aunt Bernice Walker of O'Fallon, IL, along with a host of cousins, friends, and special friend, Stephanie Ricks.
