Obituary

Mrs. Priscilla Louise White-Holliway, affectionately known as "Sissy" by her family, was born April 7, 1940 to the union of the late Robert Lee White Sr. and Mabel J. White. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and one brother, Robert White Jr. (Bob White).

Priscilla was born in Junction City, Arkansas where she worked with her grandparents in the family store at a very young age. There, she attended Rosewood School. She later relocated to East St. Louis, Illinois. She attended and graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School. Soon thereafter, she attended cosmetology school and became a hair stylist. She later became employed at the National Personnel Records Center until she retired.

On July 29, 1962, she was united in marriage to Quitila Holliway. To this union, two daughters were born, Tracy Denise and Crystal La'Trice.

Later, Priscilla joined St. Luke A.M.E. Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, a class leader, a member of the Progressive Club, a member and president of the usher board, the Wednesday Morning Bible Study and the finance committee. She was also appointed Class Leader Chairperson.

Priscilla was also very active in the community as a member of the East St. Louis Women's Club, as well as, the Girls' Club. She served many years on the local, regional, and national levels as the president, vice president, financial secretary and treasurer. She was known for her meticulous record keeping skills. She later formed her own local women's and girls' clubs, The Reba Hill Civic, Charity and Educational Club in addition to a girls' club under the same name. She was instrumental in helping several young people receive scholarships for college.

Priscilla was also a faithful member of the Westbrook Green Concert Choir for many years. She also held multiple offices there too. She was indeed a leader.

Priscilla loved to do many things. She loved to travel, spend time with her family, cook, frequently visit friends in nursing facilities, visit the sick and most of all send cards, plants, or food to those who were sick, grieving, or celebrating something. She always thought of others no matter what they were going through. She would consistently call and check on those that were shut in, sick, or just say hello. If they needed food, she was more than happy to whip up a feast and send it to them by her daughters. She was always great about sending gifts for birthdays, or any and every occasion. She wouldn't just buy gifts for immediate family, she always sent gifts for others and their children. Even when she was unable to go shopping herself, she would send one of her daughters to do it. She also did evangelism for Frontline Freedom Deliverance Ministry. She would call and invite everybody to call to be on the line.

In June 2022, Priscilla became bedridden after falling. She was blessed to have several angels here on earth to help her daughters take care of and love on her. Team Priscilla was a vital part of her care. They came faithfully every week and a couple even visited regularly after she entered the nursing home. She was always happy to see them and spend time with them watching some of her favorite tv shows, particularly "In Heat of the Night."

After 3 years of battling, God called her to her heavenly home on July 31, 2025. She is survived by 2 daughters, Rev. Tracy Denise Holliway-Wiggins (Anthony) of Alton, IL and Crystal La'Trice Holliway-Owens (Steven) of Swansea, IL; nieces and nephews, Kevin White (Angelia) of East St. Louis, IL, Robert "Beboy" White Jr. of Madison, IL, David White (Detra) of Rockford, IL, Karen Brown (Alvin) of Yorktown, VA, Catherine "Trina" White, Wilbert "Billy" Jenkins, De'Stinee White, Tamara Swanson, Pastor Anthony Wiggins, Marshata "Marty" Caradine, Tama Randall and Karmondez White, along with many cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.
