Obituary

Orlando (Dodie) Forrest was born on August 30, 1961 in Centreville, IL to Minnie Gearldine Forrest.

He was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother both named Minnie Gearldine Forrest, his oldest brother, Andrew Keith Forrest and his uncles, Ethereal Green, Jr., Eddie (Simroy) Golliday and Carlos (Poochie) Wicks.

Orlando received his education in the East St. Louis Public Schools, graduating from East St. Louis Sr. High in 1979. He later entered the Coast Guard. He was the head cook at Golliday's Catch-Of-The-Day Restaurant. He was employed by East St. Louis District #189 as a Custodian at Lincoln Middle School.

Orlando enjoyed watching sports on TV and quiet time at home. He enjoyed cooking. Orlando was a very good artist and a very warm and loving person who always smiled and chuckled.

Orlando transitioned from this world on Friday, November 25, 2022 . He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memories, his brother, Kevin Forrest, his aunts, Gloria Wicks and Irma Golliday and his uncles, James (Regina) Forrest of Sierra Vista, Arizona. Orlando will be missed by a host of other relatives and friends.
