Obituary

Norvie McGruder was born August 8, 1959, East St. Louis, Illinois to Hosey and Esther McGruder. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age.

Norvie was truly remarkable--a woman of strength, independence, and endless love for her family. The way she inspired others around her speaks volumes about her impact. She had charisma, was firm, and wasn't to be played with.

Norvie shaped those closest to her with her resilience and reliability, even if she added some humor to her honesty.

Norvie paints a picture of a woman who found joy in every corner of life--from her family to her hobbies and passions. She loved her boys and grandchildren, she enjoyed family and friends, cooking, baking, and traveling with those she loved. Norvie also enjoyed Red Wines. She embraced the future through her loved of technology and captured her vibrant personality, her no-nonsense approach, and her undeniable style. She loved watching TV, but to say the least, she loved talking.

Norvie clearly left a legacy of love, strength, and truth that will live on in everyone she touched. What an incredible person to celebrate and remember.

Norvie was preceded in death by her father, Hosey McGruder, Sr. (2008); her mother, Esther Mae McGruder (2013); youngest brother, Eldridge McGruder (1996); maternal grandmother, Rosie Lee Forest (2009); maternal grandmother, Ada Lee McKinney (2011), and maternal grandfather, Ernest Forest.

Norvie leaves a legacy of love to cherish her memories, three loving sons, Karmondez White Sr. (Lynette) of East St. Louis, IL, Kevin White Jr. (Shalonda) of Jackson, TN, and Kendrix White Sr. of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Kendrix White Jr., Karmondez White Jr., Kamiyah White, Kaylyn White, Caleb White, Kyzaiah White, Caridee White, Cambrie White, and Kinsley White; siblings, Ronald McGruder Sr., Ada McGruder, Hosey McGruder, Timothy McGruder, and Renee McGruder. Also to cherish her memories are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
