Obituary

Nathan Mahone was born November 25, 1930, in Dyersburg TN, to the late Mary Lee Mason and Roosevelt Mahone. He was the younger of two children. His parents and brother, James, all preceded him in death.

Nathan received his early education in the Dyersburg public school system. Later in his life, he and his brother moved to St. Louis, Mo to live with family members. At the age 16, Nathan and James moved to Chicago, Illinois. It was there, that Nathan decided enlisted in Air Force. Being in the Armed Forces changed his life. It provided him discipline and the opportunity travel around the world. During one of his many travels and journeys, he met and fell in love with Susi Hauser. While in Germany, a beautiful child was born from their union. Their only child, Patricia, was born. In 1972, the family relocated to the United States. In 1975, Nathan retired from the Air Force and settled his family in Washington Park, Illinois.

Nathan accepted Christ at an early age and continued his faith walk until his passing. He was an inspiration to all who were privileged to have met him. Each day of his adult life was spent providing for his family. He was definitely an outstanding Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Nathan was always a helpful and generous man and embodied the spirit of "loving others as himself". He enjoyed traveling, watching TV, and fitness. He believed in walking every day until he could no longer take his final steps.

Nathan transitioned from this life on September 16, 2016, after completing the task God had set for him on earth. He ran a slow and steady race, fought a good fight and now has received his wings. Nathan's passing is a deep loss to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Nathan is survived by his wife: Susi; his daughter: Patricia (Eric) and grandson: Eric, Jr., and a host of family and friends.
