Michael grew up in the East St. Louis/Centreville, Illinois area; a Jan 1966 graduate of the East St. Louis, Illinois School District.

In August, 1965, he met Mary L. Foxworth in the Deluxe Theatre;  on February 24, 1967, they were married; and two children were born to this blessed union.

Mary had been a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church since childhood.  Michael was baptized at New Hope Church at an early age—but strayed.  Michael joined Mt. Zion in approximately 1977; due to the children's involvement in church activities; became active Sunday School Teacher, youth activities, Trustee, Deacon in training, Bus Ministry

During his lifetime, Michael worked a variety of jobs, always trying to improve his family's life style.
