Mattie Tipler was born on October 10, 1920 in Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi to Sylvester and Edna Johnson. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Edgemont Church of God for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Tipler; daughters Darlene Johnson and Juanita Tipler; sons, Gerald Tipler, Fred Tipler, and Kenneth Tipler.

Mattie departed this life on September 29, 2021. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughters Sharon Tipler Gale and Jessie Tipler; sons, Harvey Tipler and William Tipler Jr.; grandchildren, Terence Tipler, Tracey Tipler, Terrell Tipler, Harvey Tipler, Jr., Sana Tipler, Deidre Tipler, Dameon Christian, Karrington Tipler, Tyriss Tipler, Torry Nichols, Taryn Nichols; great grandchildren, Jalene Albers, Marquita Tipler, Ashley Tipler, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
