Obituary

Mary Lucille Marble was born on September 9, 1939 , in West Point, MS to the union of Monroe Marble and Rhodia Marble. Both of whom preceded her in death.

Mary accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, when she moved to East St. Louis, IL and up to her health declining.

Mary began her formal education, in West Point, MS. She attended Ministerial Institute College, from grades 1st -12th. She graduated in 1958.

In 1964, Mary moved to East St. Louis, IL. She worked as a Childcare Educator, from 1967-1974. She supervised, monitored, prepared meals, and assisted children in reaching important developmental milestones. Mary worked as a Caregiver, from 1975-2000. She maintained strong interpersonal relationships with her clients. She had empathy, patience, kindness, and respect for all of her clients. Mary retired in 2000, once her health declined.

Mary inspired people with her tenacity, resilience, and wisdom. Mary delivered the best gift ever, in 1965. She gave birth to her bundle of joy, Charles Marble. He would be her only child. She was a selfless mother who sacrificed many of her wants and needs for her son. She put her social life on hold to focus solely on being a mom, protector, provider, disciplinarian, and role model.

Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren. She doted on them and spoiled them. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them. She also loved to shop for clothes, shoes, jewelry, hats, and purses. When she stepped out the house, she was always dressed to the nines.

Mary was called home to be with our Lord and Saviour on September 19, 2022 , at 12:30 a.m. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe Marble and Rhodia Marble; great grandson, DeAntonio Best; sisters, Annie Gladney, Queen E. Smith, Sarah Marble; brothers, Monroe Marble Jr, Adam Marble, and Walter Marble.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories a loving son, Charles (Sylvia) Marble of Killeen, TX; grandchildren, Sharee Evans of East St. Louis, IL; Nyesha King of Belleville, IL; Charles D'Montez (Sade) Marble of Aurora, Colorado; Jeremy Marble Sr. of Aurora, CO; Tamara Marble and Anthony Marble of Cahokia, IL; Jaden Marble of Belleville, IL; great grandchildren, Colby Mayfield, Harmahnie Marble, Jeremy Marble Jr, Promise Marble, Prince Marble of Aurora, CO; Destiny West, Demori King, Damani King, Diamond King, Damorian King, Dalani King, Jalia Marble, Janila Marble of Belleville, IL; Skyla Jones, Megan Marble, A'aniya Marble of Cahokia, IL; Shanti Evans, Jamon Haynes, Demetric Brownlee of East St. Louis, IL; brothers, Ezeikel Marble, Eddie Marble, and Henry (Eliza Marble) of Chicago, IL; sister Shirley (Charlie) McGee, of West Point, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
