Obituary

Mrs. Mary Louise Fisher, affectionately known to others as "Bonnie", began her journey on December 1, 1949 in Macon, Mississippi. She was born to Eddie Lee and Lillie B. Smith (Spann), both whom preceded her in death.

Mary confessed Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age at Ira Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member and served on the Nurse's Unit for many years, under Rev. B. Jones and Bishop Fred O'Neal. In later years, she moved her membership to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Tonnie P. Bradford.

Mary received her early education in Macon, Mississippi prior to her family moving to East St. Louis, Illinois. In January 1969, she graduated from from East St. Louis Senior High School and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in the same year; where she remained, until the early 80's. Mary then decided to pursue schooling and a new career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for several years and was employed at Community Hospital in East St. Louis, Illinois; after which, she returned to the U.S. Postal Service, where she retired in 2004, after thirty-two years of service.

Mary met Lovell Fisher in 1975. They were united in Holy Matrimony on April 7, 1981; three children were born to this union.

Mary was a wonderful wife, mother and friend to all. She was very attentive to her children and grandchildren in their everyday lives. Mary loved online shopping, cooking, being a mother and grandmother, watching movies and TV shows--particularly Westerns (Gunsmoke, Rifleman, Wagon Train and Bonanza). Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays and she always went overboard to ensure the holidays were special and memorable for all! She was a lover of people and had a special spot in her heart for all children (especially babies) and would care for and take in any child in need. Mary's laughter, smile, grace, kindness, and loving personality and will continue to shine upon all who loved her.
