Mario Gaines was born to the union of Nathaniel & Shirley Gaines on October 22, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri.

His father, Nathaniel Gaines; mother, Shirley Gaines; brothers, Kenny Gaines and Timothy Gaines preceded him in death.

Mario confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and remained a devout Christian leaning and depending on the word of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mario received his primary education within School District #189. He later received his certification for Emergency Medical Technician and Emergency Rescue Technician.

Mario had a passion for cooking and held various culinary positions throughout his lifetime.

On Monday, April 27, 2026, Mario peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home. He leaves to cherish his memories one uncle, Norman Stevens' three loving nieces, Shameka Love of Virginia, Sheena Gaines of East St. Louis, Illinois, Shonte Hand (Leonard) of Cahokia Heights, Illinois and a host of nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
