Mamie Hopkins James Moncrief was born on July 20, 1926 to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Sarah Williams in Arkansas.

Mamie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She came to the Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ in 1975. Mother Mamie James was appointed to the Mother's Board by Bishop.

At the age of 9 years old, Mamie's family moved to East St. Louis, Illinois. Mamie was educated in the East St. Louis School System. In June 1943, Mamie married the love of her life, Mr. Robert Hopkins. To this union, seven children were born.

Mamie worked in East St. Louis as a homemaker for her family. She also worked for many years in School District 189 as a custodial worker.

Mother Mamie Hopkins James Moncrief leaves to cherish her precious memories; her devoted and loving children, Valerie (Albert) Hopson, Robert (Erlean) Hopkins, Gerald (Kimberly) Hopkins, Carol Hopkins Jennings, Henderson and Larry Hopkins; Cheryl (Brian) Campbell both preceded her in death; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and the Mount Calvary Church family.
