Maggie Veatrice Byrd Dickens , affectionately known as "Boo", was born on March 17, 1946 , in St. Louis, MO to Jewel Vannoy and Charles Byrd.
Maggie graduated in 1964 from Madison Sr. High School, in Madison, IL. Maggie was the eldest of six children who enjoyed reading, listening to music, traveling and spending time with family.
Maggie met and was married to Willie E. Dickens of Batesville, Mississippi for 9 years.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel & Johnnie Crook Sr.; grandparents, Odie & Willie Vannoy; one sister, Veletta Crook; one niece, Moca Crook, and one nephew, Ricardo Mason (posthumously).
Maggie departed this life unexpectedly on April 24, 2024 in St. Louis, MO at the age of 78. Maggie's love extended to her daughter, Arion Dickens Tate, former son-in-law, Brian Tate; grandchildren, Iman Dickens, Niyah Tate and Anthony Tate; great-grandchildren, Kaiden Hunter, Kyrie Thurman and Kross Thurman; sisters, Sandra Crook Mason and Donna Crook; brothers, Johnnie Crook Jr. and Glenn Crook Sr.; sister-in-laws, Sheila Crook and Theresa Robinson and dear long-time friend, John Cooper along with a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and extended friends.
