Obituary

Maggie Mae Clay Holman Glass was born on September
29, 1934. She was the first born child of the late Hamp Clay Je.
And Ida Mae Moore Clay.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Thomas Glass Sr. in
April 1983.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sons;
Mark Holman and Steve Holman; two daughters Felicia Holman
and Shelreese Holman; a sister and brother-in-law Mary (Otis)
Windham, sister and brother-in-law James (Luellen) Glass, sisterin-law
Sharon Clay and a host of uncles and aunt.
Maggie professed a hoping Christ at an early age at Baldwin United
Methodist Church in Macon, Mississippi. Her mother and father
moved to East St. Louis Illinois in 1952 where she united
with St. John AME Zion Church. She presently attended Metro E.
Worship Center in Granite City Illinois.
Maggie was employed by School District #189 in 1978 as a Custodial
Engineer. She retired in 1996. She worked for Addis
Home Healthcare for a while and then became a volunteer grandparent
until her health failed.
Maggie was kind, honest, and warm hearted to everyone she encountered.
She loved her children and family members. She was
anchored in her love to God and others. Her testimonies of life
were revealing and appreciated by others. When she smiled at
you, you know that God was present and then she would say, I
Love You. Maggie also loved to shop, travel, and celebrate her
birthdays.
Maggie leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Josephine
(James) Glass of Cahokia, IL, Michael (Donna) Shields of Granite
City, IL, John (Fallon) Holman of St. Peters, MN, Jacqueline
Bradley of MN, Sonya Holman of Fairview Heights, IL, Romel
Glass of Fairview Heights, IL and Kinyata (Dante) Evans of Bettendorf,
IA; two brothers Willie Clay of Alton, IL and Abdul
Qahhar Bilah (Hamp Clay III) of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law
Gloria Johnson of Macon, MS, twelve grandchildren, seventeen
great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a host of nephews,
nieces, cousins, and other family and friends.
