Madaline Davis was born on September 11, 1937 in Bernie, Missouri to the union of Joshua Artis and Madge "Maggie" Ramsey. She was the 4th oldest of six children: Hildred Artis, Mildred Artis, Kenneth Artis, Annie May Ramsey, and Ananias Ramsey. She confessed a hope in Christ in 1948 when she was 11 years old in Poplar Grove, Arkansas. She received her eighth grade education in the public school system.
Madaline moved to East St. Louis in 1960 with her first five children, Pam Williams, Doris Taylor, Helen Brown, Carolyn Artis, and Maxwell Artis from Arkansas. Then she later had her last four children Phyllis Cochrell, Maxine Lovelace, Isaiah Davis, and Paul Davis in East St. Louis, IL. She later married Isaiah Davis in 1966 in East St. Louis, Illinois.
She first joined Shining Light in 1960. Then she later joined Faith Holiness Church in the early 90's in East St. Louis, IL where she served for over 20 years.
Madaline departed this life surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. Madaline leaves to cherish her memory nine loving children, Pam Williams and Maxine (Paul) Lovelace of Belleville, IL; Doris Taylor of Evansville, IN; Maxwell (Brenda) Artis of Kirkwood, MO; Isaiah (Tasha) Davis of Kentucky; Helen (David) Brown, Carolyn Artis, Phyllis (John) Cochrell, and Paul (Olga) Davis all of East St. Louis, IL; 31 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; 12 Great-Great Grandchildren; siblings, Annie May Thomas of Fairview Heights, IL, Kenneth Artis and Ananias Ramsey of St. Louis, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
