Lucy Pearl
Dale
Jul 15, 1940 — Feb 14, 2022
Lucy Pearl Dale was born July 15, 1940 in Gholson, Mississippi to Daniel Sr. and Callie Parks. Pearl, as she was affectionately called, was the fifth child of ten children. She was educated in Shuqualak, Mississippi. She decided at an early age to accept Christ as the ruler of her life and united with Friendship Baptist Church.
Pearl met the love of her life, Freeman Dale, Jr. The couple united in holy matrimony on November 21, 1959 and moved to Scooba, Mississippi. The couple had much love to share and decided to start their own family and to this union seven children were born. In an effort to gain better employment and provide more opportunities for their children, the family later moved to East Saint Louis, Illinois in 1966.
Pearl searching to find a place of worship, found her home at St. Mark M.B. Church under the pastorate of Rev. James Wings. She continued to study and learn more about God's word with former and current pastor, Rev. Kenneth Johnson. She was a devoted and faithful member for many years. She served as a faithful usher and in many other capacities at the church until her health began to fail.
Pearl gained employment at Angelica Healthcare where she worked for many years until she retired. Upon retirement, Pearl decided to devote her time doing things she loved most. Her hobbies included shopping, cooking, fishing, watching her favorite TV shows, being a mother, grandmother, and family member. She also spent time traveling to many family reunions, attending graduations and other accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, and just visiting with family. She always went overboard to make sure holidays were special and memorable!
Pearl's life was the epitome of the gemstone. Pearls symbolize wisdom acquired through experience. They are believed to attract wealth and luck as well as offer protection. Pearls are known for their calming effect, can balance one's karma, strengthen relationships, and keep children safe. This is how she was known to her family and all those she encountered. Her smile, grace, charm and loving personality will be forever remembered.
Pearl's final days were spent with her devoted husband, children, and grandchildren providing ultimate care, exchanging timeless moments, and expressing their love just as she had given to her family throughout the years. She completed her earthly mission here on earth on February 14, 2022 . She was preceded in death by: her parents, Daniel Sr. and Callie Parks; siblings, Minnie Rose (Henry) Ingram, Jackie (Leon) Coleman, Fred (Mary) Parks, Daniel Jr. (Eva) Parks, Charles (Helen) Parks; son, Curtis Dale.
