Lisa
Young
Feb 22, 1955 — Feb 6, 2026
Lisa Marie Young was born on February 22, 1955 to Mable Young and Nolan Parks in St. Louis, Missouri, whom both preceded her in death. Lisa accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was a devoted and active member of the Inspirational Choir until her health prevented it.
Lisa was a lifelong resident of East St. Louis, Illinois. She raised her treasure (daughter) and her three heartbeats (grandchildren) here also.
Lisa received her formal education in School District #189, where she attended Washington Elementary, Hughes Quinn Junior High School, and Lincoln Senior High School. She graduated and was a proud member of the Class of 1974. Lisa then continued into higher education and received an Associated Degree from State Community College. Lisa always loved little children and became employed with SIUE HeadStart Program. She devoted 23 years there until her retirement in 2013. After retiring, Lisa still felt her calling in life was not finished yet. So shortly thereafter, she became a Foster grandparents through the SIUE HeadStart Program at Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center.
Lisa was known for her heart of gold and often gave to those in need. When asked how she was feeling she would just smile and say, "I'm partly cloudy with a chance of sunshine."
Lisa departed this life on February 6, 2026. She is remembered and cherished by her only daughter, Kenishia Q. Young of East St. Louis, IL; her grandchildren (heartbeats), Anthony J. Young-Braggs, Nadonya D. Young-Braggs (whom she named), and Reginald K. Young all of East St. Louis, IL. She will also be remembered by a host of cousins and friends.
