Lisa Merchant was born on August 17, 1965 to the union of Bertha and Jason Merchant (Jason preceded her in death). Lisa attended and graduated from Venice High School and went on to attend Debbie's School of Beauty Culture, in which she won 1st and 3rd place in hair competitions. She had amazing hands and talent for doing hair especially in cutting and coloring.

She then had a beautiful baby girl names India with Eugene Williams, Jr. Her and India's relationship was inseparable. They were always joking and calling each other "girl, beautiful" and "my love."

In 1987, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and although her health quickly faded, her spirit never faded. Lisa loved to laugh and was very goofy, anything would make her laugh. She also loved watching her soap operas with her mother Bertha. They would laugh, talk, and do physical therapy.

Lisa departed this life on Friday, December 3, 2021 . She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother ~ Bertha Merchant of Madison, IL; daughter ~ India Merchant of Madison, IL; sister ~ Renee (Zorobabel) Collins of Granite City, IL; brother ~ Jason (Valerie) Merchant of Seattle, WA; a host of aunts, nephews, uncles, and family who loved her dearly.
