Ms . Linnetta Elaine Cotton was born on June 1, 1943 in St. Louis, MO to the union of David Dale Jr. and Essie Mae Clark. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Thanes at Southern Mission Baptist Church where she served as a choir member. She later became a member at New Shinning Light in Venice, IL. She graduated from East St. Louis Sr. High School District 189.

Linnetta departed this life on August 11, 2020 . She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Joe Wingate, Tyrone Wingate and Joel Scott; daughter Bridget Wingate; daughter-in-law Felicia Wingate; ten grandchildren Vincent Wingate, Linnetta Jackson, Brittney Jackson, Tyrone Jorden, Jahnelle Tillman, Shamyri Wingate, Gerrie Jordan, Victoria Crumble, Kachenia Wingate, Joe Wingate Jr. all of East St Louis, IL; two sisters Mary Ann Floore and Carla Dunn; two brothers Anthony Robinson and Darryl Clark; one aunt, Genola Gaddis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and family.
