Obituary

Linda Ruth Fuller entered into this world on January 22, 1948 in Brooklyn Illinois to the union of the late Mr. Robert Fuller Sr. and Bertha "Robinson" Fuller. Linda was the fourth of eleven children. Five of her siblings preceded her in death, Blanche Rogers, Robert Fuller Jr., and Patricia Joshway, Ida Brown and Reginald Fuller.

Linda accepted Jesus Christ in her life at a young age at Lovejoy Temple Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn, IL under the leadership of the late Elder Ellie Edwards where she was filled with the Holy Ghost. Many years later she was baptized in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ at Gethsemane Church of the Living God under the leadership of Bishop Willie Mosby. When Linda was frequently reminded about her relationship with Christ by her daughter, she would often tell her that, "I was SAVED, SANCTIFIED and filled with the HOLY GHOST before you even thought about it!" Daughter's reply, "OKAY!" During the years of residing in the nursing home Linda repented of her sins and rekindled the relationship she had lost with Christ for so many years (thank God she is in the hands of God and not man). Her favorite song was "OH HAPPY DAY! When Jesus washed, He washed my sins away." In which we often sang by her bed side.

Linda received her formal education in the Lovejoy School District. She was employed as a bus attendant (keeping the children in order was a gift). In 1967, Linda married the late Yandell Alexander and to this union her one and only child was born. In 1995 she married the love of her life Alten Winters whom she continued her life with until her health failed. Linda had a fierce passion for cleaning, everything had to be clean and in order at all times. She was always the life of ANY party or family gathering. She had the most humorous personality and kept those in her presence either laughing or praying. Linda never failed to let others know: my name is L.I.N.D.A. you better recognize (meaning don't come for me, unless I send for you). Linda's nickname was "SLIM" and her tall and slender stature represented this name. She was extremely generous and gave of her resources without fail. Even the gifts that were given to her. Linda was also extremely protective of her family members and didn't mind showing forth muscle to let others know she meant business. She enjoyed being around her family and always had a blast with her nieces and nephews and if their parents had any trouble with them, she had a unique way of getting them in order. Linda's favorite holidays were the Fourth of July (probably because she was a firecracker herself). Christmas (she had a gift of giving) and New Year (in which she departed on this day, its just like her to go out with a bang). She never failed to visit or send a gift to her big sister Jeanette on her birthday. Slim's favorite color was red and she reminded her daughter from childhood into adulthood to bury her in this color (mission accomplished).

Mrs. Linda Winters departed this life surrounded by family on January 1, 2020 and leaves to cherish her precious memories, her devoted husband, Alten Winters; one and only child, Teresa Collins; two grandchildren, Ciara (Kyle) Gardner and Daunte' Collins; three great grandchildren, Desirae Collins, Daunte Collins Jr and Cameron Gardner; one nephew she helped raise, John Rogers; 3 sisters, Janetta Smith, Charlene Fuller, Helen Moore; two brothers, Matthew Fuller and Christopher Fuller. Although she loved all of her nieces and nephews she had a few that stuck with her really closely to the end, Cortez Rogers, McKinley Smith, Roland Fuller, Cathy Cox, Charlotte Fuller, Charlie Fuller and Paula Paraham (The support was greatly appreciated); a bonus daughter, Lisa Robinson and a huge host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister and brother in laws and friends.
