Linda Yvonne Turner, was born on October 26, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri to her loving parents Jessie and Carlease Reese. She was nurtured with the loving extended family, which included her maternal grandparents, George Harris and Florence Brown and her paternal aunt Mildred Evans; all of whom proceeded her in death.
Linda professed a hope in Christ at an early age as a charter member of the Progressive Baptist Church under the leadership of late Dr. Joseph D. Linton where she faithfully sang in the Coral Club and the Mass Choir for over 40 years. She later united with the Prince of Peace Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie E. Kilpatrick where she was a devoted choir member until her health failed. She was a dedicated worker in the church, serving as the choir's Seargent at Arms, a member of the "volunteer maintenance crew" and a faithful member of the beloved "Renegades" Sunday School class as well as volunteering in other support capacities. She loved her Pastor, First Lady and her church, Gospel Music brought her great joy, she loved singing with Coral Club, The Joseph Price Singers, Gospel Music Workshop of America, GEMCA, the Progressive Reunion Choir ,
the Prince of Peace Mass Choir and others.
As a young girl, Linda new she had a passion for fashion and hair. She graduated from Anthony's Beauty College becoming a successful beautician, with clients from all walks of life. She developed long-lasting genuine, professional and personal relationships with her clients. She loved being in the salon and was known for her hair coloring abilities, the color combination she got just right.
Linda married Thomas Eugene Turner and was devoted wife for many years. She was the strong, proud, loving mother to LaRette and they shared a special mother/daughter bond of mutual respect and friendship. She was a second mother to her bonus daughter Paula and Godmother to Arnold. Some sisters are blood bond while others are God-sent; such was her familiar relationship with Ann. She was a mother figure to many and claimed Helen as her very own. Linda never met a stranger and loved having people around her all the time. She enjoyed her life to the fullest and loved to travel. She would get so excited and joyful about the smallest things, and was always a cheerleader to others. She spoke her mind, but you always knew it came from a place of sincerity. She loved "The Group".
Linda lived each day as full as she possibly could, until the very end. She departed this life on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 1:00 a.m.
Linda leaves to cherish her memory: LaRette (daughter), Jackie(sister), Nokey(nephew), Daniesha and Lauren (grand-neices), Paula (bonus daughter), Arnold (god-child), Taylor and JonMichael (bonus great grandchildren), a very special sister-friend, Ann; her daily check-in buddy, Charles; her "husband," Quintin; "The Group"; the Thedford Family and host of other relatives and friends.
