Obituary

Lieutenant Verge McCray was born on March 17, 1935 to Mabel and Pleasant McCray in Louise, Mississippi. He was the second born to this union. Later the family moved to St. Louis, MO where he attended school and later graduated from Washington Tech High School.

Later he decided to join the Army where he served as an Engineer where he built bridges and etc.

After his return home he was employed at Art Belman Iron and Metal Company for 20 years. He was a member of the Long Shore Union acting as an advocate for complaints of his co-workers.

Bro. Lieutenant was married but to this union no children were born. However he loved children that were brought into the marriage. He was a caring and loving step-father.

Bro. Lieutenant confessed his hope in Christ and was baptized. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Bro. Lieutenant completed his journey and went to meet his Heavenly Father on October 29, 2021.

He was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters and one brother. He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother ~ Luther C. McCray; his wife ~ Leslie McCray; three sisters ~ Margie Anderson, Beverly McCray, and Ivory Louise Linwedel; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his beloved church family.
