Lezley T.
Smith
Sep 19, 1996 — May 17, 2025
Lezley Tiochen'e Smith was born on September 19, 1996 in Granite City, IL to LaTonya Harper & Lester Smith Jr.
Lezley was a very quiet child with an infectious smile and had the cutest dimple. She found her love of music and dance at an early age. She was the only girl of five brothers and grew up loving wrestling and video games.
Lezley was educated in the Granite City School District and played softball for her school and this is where she met her first female friend, Jasmine Barney. Jas and Lezley were inseparable, always finding mischief together and spending hours giggling at their own private jokes. Jas and her family introduced Lezley to religion and she attended True Fellowship Church.
Lezley was a nurturing spirit and loved children. On December 19, 2007, Lezley's first niece was born. Although Lezley was still very young she immediately took over as Nevaeh's caretaker. Lezley and her cousin Kourtney had always been close. When Nevaeh was born, Kourtney moved in so her and Lezley could take care of Nevaeh full time. To see these to taking care of Nevaeh was like watching a loving couple welcoming their first child! Lezley soon had several other nieces and nephews and she doted on each and every one of them.
Lezley had a passion for cooking and would prepare the most delicious meals for her family and friends and would base her meals from the TV show Chopped where the meals would be made from only 3 ingredients and timed.
Lezley later moved to Nashville, TN where she met the love of her life, Edward Blagogee and on February 25, 2025, they welcomed their one and only daughter, E'Lanii Michelle Harper-Blagogee.
Lezley was preceded in death by her maternal grandmothers, Regina M. Carter and Maryanne Smith; maternal grandfathers, Anthony Harper and Lester Smith, Sr.; paternal great grandmothers, Cecil Carter and Minnie Coleman.
Lezley departed this on the early morning of May 17, 2025 and leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to her daughter, E'Lanii Blagogee; her mother, LaTonya Harper of St. Louis, MO; father, Lester Smith, Jr., of Belleville, IL; brothers, Dearrious (Shalishe) Wellmaker of St. Louis, MO, Kynton (Cali) Harper of Granite City, IL, Tre'Mel Smith of Belleville, IL, Lester Smith III of Cahokia, IL, Lester D.
