Mr. Leroy Bernard Scott, Sr. was born in Venice, IL on December 12, 1936 to the union of Mayetta Montgomery and Algin Scott. Leroy was the oldest of 11 children and confessed a hope in Christ at an early age uniting with the Church of God In Christ.
Mr. Leroy Scott Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Scott; sons, Larry and Ervyal Scott; mother, Mayetta Montgomery; father, Algin Scott; sisters, Trudie Montgomery, Burta Scott, and Annie May Scott; brothers, Joe Montgomery and Jimmy Scott; grandson, Kimauri Scott.
Leroy Scott Sr. was educated in Venice, IL at Dunbar School. After completing school he moved to Centreville, IL in 1953. He went on to further his education at Man Power here in East St. Louis, IL where he became an instructor in auto mechanics and engineering. After successfully teaching others his love for auto mechanics and engineering, he opened his own business and called it "Right Way Auto Repair". Mr. Leroy Scott Sr. moved on in his career to become the first African American manager at W.T. Grants Automotive Service.
In 1961, he married Myrtle Jackson-Scott, to this union 8 children were born.
