Ms. Leneshia Michelle Lay was born on July 21, 1975 in Tampa, Florida to Michael Lay and Rosemary McCraney.

Leneshia graduated from East St. Louis Sr. High School in 1994. Afterwards she enrolled in Southwestern Illinois College to obtain her certificate in Child Care Development. Leneshia enjoyed working for MERS Goodwill for several years prior to moving her mother and family to Florida. This year, Leneshia began working for Hillsborough County Schools.

Leneshia's pride was helping children as she shared her passion caring for children. Leneshia was known for going above and beyond for her family and friends. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Leneshia such as spending quality time with her family. Her pleasant personality was so contagious that everyone gravitated to her.

Leneshia passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023 , at her home in Tampa, Florida. She is preceded in death by her son, Derrick Yelder, Jr.

Leneshia is survived by her daughter, Jerimyah Wells; grandson, Jordan Derrick Yelder; siblings, Shernita Richardson, Brandy Richardson; nieces, Sarajanae Watts, Autumn Cosey; nephew, Ayden Darough; uncles, Kelvin (LaWanda) McGill, Orlando (LaShawnda) McGill; extended family, Merrell Wells, Jr., Rodney Wells; best friends, Anjie Smith, Tracey Williams, and a host of beautiful cousins that she was thankful for.
