Obituary

Lee Linc Stallings was born on September 30, 1956 in Whiteville, Tennessee. He was one of eight children of James and Willie Mae Stallings. Mr. Stallings was preceded in death by his parents, James and Willie Mae Stallings, and brothers, George Stallings and Charles Stallings.

Lee moved with family to East St. Louis, IL in 1966. He graduated from Lincoln Sr. High School in 1975 before attending State Community College. Lee was known for his work at The Promise Center, where he worked for over 30 years and retired in October of 2018. He was known for his hard work and commitment to the youth with special needs that he served.

One of Lee's passions was writing poetry. He was a published poet whose work has appeared in many publications throughout the area and country. His Lee Stallings Poetry Exhibit was established in the International Poetry Hall of Fame Museum. In addition, he was often featured in our very own East St. Louis Monitor's Poetry Corner.

Lee transitioned on March 26, 2024 at the home of his beloved sister, Jean Stallings. He leaves behind to remember him, his son, Sean Stallings; his daughter, Chala Stallings; his grandchildren, Eva Stallings, Nigel Stallings, Desean Lee Stallings, Terrance Ray "Satch" Stallings, and Amya Molton; his brothers, Don Stallings, James Stallings and Robert Stallings Sr.,; his sisters, Jean Stallings and Marilyn Stallings and a number of family, extended family and friends.
