Ms. LaShonda Shonta McGill, age 46 of East St. Louis passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Ascension Saint Francis Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. LaShonda was born May 26, 1976 to Rufus Perry and Annie B. McGill, both preceding her in death. She was the youngest of seven siblings. Also preceding her in death were siblings Tremere McGill, Shirley (Nathaniel) Stewart, Rosemary McCraney, and Felicia Goodwin.

LaShonda graduated from High School and enrolled in Southwestern Illinois College then transferred to St. Louis Community College - Forest Park. LaShonda accepted Christ as her Savor at an early age. LaShonda joined Calvary A. D. Church where she also received her Certificate of Ministerial License. She was known for being spiritually guided and being a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family and community. LaShonda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her smile was contagious as she would light up the room with her happiness and humorous personality.

LaShonda leaves to cherish her family, Kelvin (LaWanda) McGill, Orlando (Lashawnda) McGill, one uncle, James Daniels and one brother-in-law, Ernest Goodwin and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; extended family Johnnie B. Washington, Stephanie Washington, Bishop Bermayne Jackson, DaShawn Smith and her caregiver/friend Teresa Brooks.
