Mr. Larry Cannon Newsome was born on September 11, 1955 in Granite City, Illinois to Mrs. Maggie Cannon and Mr. Leon Young who both preceded him in death. He was adopted by his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Walter (Betty Ward) Newsome, who also preceded him in death. Sadly, Larry Newsome departed this life on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Gateway Regional Hospital in Granite City, Illinois.
Larry attended Madison Community Unit School District #12 and graduated in June 1973 from Madison High School. Immediately after graduating, Larry enlisted into the U.S. Army, which he was very proud of and served for many years. Larry worked many places such as the Granite City Warehouse as a Telemarketer as a Disc Jockey (DJ).
Even through his battle of beating cancer, he continued his education by attending Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) in Granite City, Illinois in order to further his education and knowledge. Larry kept busy until his health failed.
Larry loved spending time with family. He was full of laughter and great with remembering and reminiscing over the pas life events. He was proud the wear the apron as the cook at family barbecues. He loved playing board games, especially cards on Friday nights.
Larry was blessed to have a big family of brothers and sisters. He had one brother, Bobby Cannon and three sisters, Betty McDonald, Helen Anderson, and Antoinette Phillips who preceded him in death.
Larry leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Larry Stancil, Lowell Newsome, Aundre' (Amanda) Bradshaw, Juston (Natalie) Bradshaw; daughters, Candiss Hamilton, Tiffany Yvette Newsome, Jasmine Newsome, Serena Newsome; brothers, Edward Brewer, William (Patricia) Cannon, John Cannon; sisters, Ida Cannon, Joyce Cannon-Hernton, Kerran Cannon, Wonder Cannon, Mary Cannon; special aunt, Thelma Jean; special friends, Joann Sharp and her daughter Alisha. Larry also leaves to cherish four special ex-wives and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, extended family, and friends.
Larry, we honor you today. We love you beyond words. We miss you more than time will ever fix and we will keep your name alive -- through our stories, memories, and love. Until we meet again.
