Lamarian
Gates
Mar 8, 1977 — May 7, 2020
Lamarian Gates, Jr. was not one of Jehovah's Witnesses as his mom and dad were. But it is her desire to be comforted with the hope that only Jehovah God can fulfill.
Early in his life, he studied the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and on and off and attended some of their meetings with and without his parents. A mannerable person who treated others with respect. He had a quiet and mild disposition on and was serious about trying his best to do things right which made him a joy to be around.
Later he became an over the road truck driver who enjoyed travelling, seeing the beautiful countryside and meeting people from all walks of life.
He brought an inquisitive side to the table of things not easily understood and the burning desire to make some sense of it. After a number of years on the road, he was back home with his family to renew and rebuild for the future.
The outlook was bright and seemed to fit in with the conditions surrounding his mother's declining health. "Lil Jake" couldn't wait to be out in the garden, digging and planting with his mom, "Adaann" who loved flowers, trees and plants. It was unfortunate that it never happened. Sometimes things get interrupted.
Lamarian Gates, Jr . departed this life to a peaceful rest on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the age of 43, at the family home at 1511 College Ave., East St. Louis, IL.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mom, Adaann Gates of East St. Louis, IL; two brothers, Ramone of Leavenworth, KS and Tremayne Gates of East St. Louis, IL; four uncles, Lee Mack Ewing of East St. Louis, IL, Wheeler Ewing, Jr. of Chicago, IL, Jerome Ewing of East St. Louis, IL and Willis Ewing of East St. Louis, IL; two aunts, Mary Jackson of Shiloh, IL and Jacqueline Thomas of Kansas City, MO; his grandfather, Wheeler Ewing, Sr. of East St. Louis, IL; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
